Gruet has announced Brut 66, two New Mexican sparkling wines celebrating the 100th anniversary of American icon Route 66. The first wine ($25 a 750-ml.)—launching in select retailers across Route 66’s eight-state span—is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir that matures for 15 months on the lees. The second wine ($25), exclusive to the brand’s tasting rooms, is 66% Chardonnay and 34% Pinot Noir and aged for 39 months en tirage. Both feature Route 66-themed labels, with the wider release nodding at the highway’s iconic sign and the tasting room exclusive featuring a photograph of Route 66 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
