Castello di Gabbiano Debuts New Toscana IGT

Dark Knight fills a price point void for the winery and modernizes its rich history.

Treasury Wine Estates has launched a new wine from Tuscany’s Castello di Gabbiano. Dark Knight ($17 a 750-ml.) is a Toscano IGT blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese sourced from estate and premium vineyards. Taking inspiration from Castello di Gabbiano’s historic roots, Tuscan-born winemaker Federico Corelli created Dark Knight as a modern and accessible iteration of the brand. Contemporary winemaking techniques (such as carbonic maceration) and an updated version of the brand’s “Il Cavaliere” (the knight on horseback) label set Dark Knight apart from the winery’s previous releases. The wine is available on the East Coast, with a national rollout expected later in the spring.
