Total Wine & More’s appeal of a ruling denying its bid to enter Westchester County, New York with a store in Hartsdale has been rejected by a state supreme court justice. According to local outlet The Journal News, the appeal was denied September 16, allowing the State Liquor Authority’s (SLA) rejection of Total’s application to stand. Total originally filed its application to open the Hartsdale store in August 2018, but ran into opposition from local liquor store operators, and the SLA ruled against its bid, noting that the location would be “ten times the size of the closest store and over twice the size of all the stores within two miles of the proposed location.” Total, which has a store in Westbury, Long Island, is also eyeing a potential opening in College Point, Queens.
