Dewar’s Releases Latest In Collector’s Series

The latest Double Double pays homage to Dewar's Highlands distilleries.

Bacardi-owned Dewar’s has debuted the second release in its Collector’s Series: a 38-year-old blended malt. The new 46% abv whisky, Double Double 38-year-old ($2,200 a 750-ml.), is dedicated to the Dewar’s distilleries that lie at the northern edge of the Highlands. It’s finished in Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks from Royal Brackla, a Highlands distillery that Dewar’s owns. The new blended malt—made without the grain whisky that’s usually part of Dewar’s and other blended Scotches—underwent master blender Stephanie Macleod’s four-step process, whereby the components of the blend are first aged separately, then blended together, then aged again in their original casks for an unspecified period, before being finished in another cask.
