The Wine Group has entered the low-calorie, low-alcohol drinks market with Cupcake LightHearted. The new line ($10 a 750-ml.) includes California-sourced Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, and rosé. With some of the alcohol reduced through filtration that retains the wine’s character, it comes in 8% abv with around 80 calories and less than one gram of sugar a 5-ounce serving. LightHearted is aimed at health-conscious consumers looking for an alternative to hard seltzers and other lower-alcohol drinks. Cupcake LightHearted is available nationwide.
